Volume signed off by W.H. Johnston Lieutenant Royal Engineers D.O.H. [dated] 18 Oct 1906
Note in the Name Book reads:
Kent
SHEET LVI N.W. Two very much ploughed over barrows are visible
in a field north west of Buckholt Farm, 500 yards from the Farm.
Magnetic bearings from the junction of the road to the
Farm and the Penny Pot- Sole Street Road: 1st barrow,
152 degrees, 2nd barrow, 162 degrees. The two barrows are
about 50 yards apart, and 150 yards from Sole Street
road. Their shape is now rather indeterminate, but they
are too big for Saxon barrows and more likely to be Bronze
Age. There are vague traces of a third barrow.
The site should be marked on the 6-Inch map.
