By 1915 the family were in Hastingleigh where his brother Jack died and is buried.
After the war he co-farmed Wildage, Stelling Minnis when his father, after the death of his parents he moved  to Frittenden, Kent. His parents are buried at Elmsted church.

1929 Doris Violet Watson, she died from tubercular meningitis in 1930 and Jim Young never remarried.
