1939 Register / Census of Hastingleigh Parish taken on 29th September .
Population: 243 (including a number of evacuees from London. )
Abbreviations used: W=widow / widower, S=single, M=married, m=male, f=female, ARP= air raid precaution,
LCC=Local County Council, RD=Registration District, RAMC= Royal Army Medical Corps
The data collected included the Property Name, Names of Occupants, Sex, Date of birth, Marital status, Occupation, and any war time special service or skill.
Where the words "Heavy-Worker" has been used, this would allow for an extra food ration above the normal allowance, due to the physical work undertaken.
This list was used after the War to issue everyone with a National Health Service Number, for that reason anyone still alive, or who died overseas, will have their names and details redacted until 100 years after the year of their birth year as noted on the register.
Note: some properties in Hastingleigh were written up twice - with variations in names and dates of birth.
I have noted both versions and any significant side notes from the reguster - such as change of surname when married.
The evacuees from London were placed in several homes across the parish, and many of these who were children, will still be alive, therefore their names are redacted. This list does not include kinship. There is no way to know from the register whether a redacted name is a biological relation of the named adults, or an evacuee billeted with a family, without looking up the place of birth and ding some researching. If already researched as being an evacuee, this is noted in brackets in the War Time Occupation column in blue text.

Note that the last 6 properties listed, are allocated to Wye Parish's Register at the time.
