8 Dec 1894 Posted to 1st Battalion The Buffs, in India till 8 May 1897 earned India Medal 1895.
9 May 1897-27 Nov 1897 spent 111 days on the North West Frontier Campaign -earned clasp inscibed Punjab Frontier 1897-98 to add to his India Medal.
28 Nov 1897 - 24 Dec 1901 serving in India till discharged medically unfit for service from the military hospital for tropic disease, having gained 2 Good Conducted pay increases and certified conduct was Very Good.
On his assessment for discharge he had grown to 5 ft 6 1/2 tall, aged 27yrs and 7 months, signed at Deolali, Maharashtra on 20 Sep 1901, finally discharged 24 Dec 1901 in Hampshire.
